Where the world of Metaverse becomes Real

Casio’s G-Shock ventures into the metaverse with Virtual G-Shock and NFT co-creation

Japanese electronics giant Casio is venturing into the metaverse by launching Virtual G-Shock, a blockchain-based initiative in partnership with Polygon Labs. The programme introduces 15,000 free-to-mint G-Shock Creator Pass NFTs, granting access to a Discord channel where users can participate in a co-creation competition to design variant passes, with the winner determined by community vote. Casio will distribute the NFTs through its official website, starting with a claim window for Casio ID holders from September 23–26, followed by a public mint from September 26–29. These NFTs will be minted on the Polygon Ethereum scaling network. Takahashi Oh, senior general manager of Casio’s timepiece division, explained that the move aims to expand the G-Shock brand into virtual spaces and interactive online worlds, fostering a culture of wearing watches in the metaverse. This initiative aligns with the growing trend of brands exploring Web3 and metaverse experiences, with Casio joining the likes of Adidas, Nike, and Starbucks in partnering with Polygon.
