Neuroscience startup, Cogitat, makes brain-computer interface using virtual reality

Cogitat is a neurotech company working on a device that can transform human brain activity into activities without the need for physical movement. It’s called a brain-computer interface, and it’s being created by NHS specialist Allan Ponniah and Imperial College London computer scientist Dimitrios Adamos. It is still in the early phases of development, but it has already been tested on stroke victims with promising results. The goal is to make rehabilitation activities more appealing in order to encourage them to continue with them. Elon Musk’s Neuralink is working on a similar concept, but it entails implanting a device inside the brain. Cogitat’s device operates on top of the head rather than inside it, and it might one day take the shape of a headband used in conjunction with a VR headset.
