Etihad Airways, the UAE’s flagship carrier, is expanding its loyalty and rewards programme for customers and NFT holders by offering the ability to “stake” or lock NFTs in exchange for air miles. The airline has released a new 300-edition expansion of its Polygon-based EY-ZERO1 NFT collection, featuring intricately designed digital aircraft models resembling the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, inspired by the movie “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.” Holders of these limited-edition NFTs can enjoy exclusive perks, including priority check-in, lounge access, and membership to the Etihad Virtual Club, among others. In September, Etihad will unveil its Web3 loyalty programme called “Horizon Club,” allowing NFT holders to earn Etihad Guest Miles by staking their NFTs, redeemable for flights and other benefits. This trend reflects a broader movement in the airline industry towards integrating NFTs and blockchain technology to enhance loyalty programmes and customer experiences.
